Kitchen Remodel Durham, NC

This Durham kitchen remodel project transformed an outdated, but mostly functional kitchen, into a gorgeous and modern kitchen that will be great for cooking and entertaining and has many custom features that the homeowners will enjoy. We gutted the whole kitchen and started building back with new Shaker-style dark aquamarine cabinets that are simply beautiful. The green-blue of the cabinets is set off with a light grey subway tile backsplash and a light quartz countertop to give a fresh, modern feel.

The kitchen features an under-mount sink, a new cooktop, and all new appliances, including the refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. To make the kitchen more open, we took down the partition wall on the island and enlarged it so that there is now more room to cook. The back of the island now has more storage cabinets and the new, induction cooktop on the island has a downdraft vent. Another custom feature is the narrow, messenger cabinet to the right of the microwave that has a whiteboard inside for family communications.

For electrical updates, we installed can lights in the kitchen and hallway, two new pendant lights in the kitchen, and a new chandelier in the breakfast nook. We also refinished the hardwood flooring in the kitchen and the bottom part of the staircase and installed new hardwoods throughout the entire first floor, the top stairs, and the landing. Now all the hardwoods flow seamlessly. The entire kitchen and living room were given a fresh coat of paint to finish off the job.
