These homeowners contacted us to renovate the mudroom and bathroom in their Chapel Hill home. Their existing mudroom cabinetry was not meeting the unique needs of their family. After listening closely to their needs and wants, we created a semi-custom cabinet design that would maximize their storage capacity while meeting the needs specific to their family.
We chose L-shaped cabinets in the mudroom to utilize every bit of the wall space available. The deep storage drawers with bench seating provide a place to take shoes off and on. The side furthest to the left provides double capacity for hanging clothes while the right side provides ample space to hang longer coats. We customized the shoe storage portion of the L-shaped cabinets to leave room for one member of the family’s size 14 shoes and maximized the shoe storage with multiple sizes of shelves. Now they have room for their boots when needed but can fit more shoes than before! Lastly, we installed a new storage cabinet across from the L-shaped cabinet providing every bit of storage we could fit while still giving the room plenty of space for foot traffic.
In the room directly adjacent, the total bathroom renovation included the new shower, flooring, paint, lighting, vanity, and fixtures. We installed stained maple cabinetry to match the cabinetry in the mudroom and new upgraded porcelain tile flooring in both the mudroom and the bathroom.
Like many of our clients, once we began working, these homeowners were so impressed with our craftsmanship that they added the following extras to the project:
- In the kitchen, we replaced all countertops, installed a new backsplash, and added under-cabinet lighting.
- In the garage, we installed a new utility sink and countertop.
- In the mudroom area, we replaced the exterior door.
